Movember, the month formerly known as November, is when we all step up to better support men and raise awareness about men's health - specifically prostate cancer, testicular cancer, mental health and suicide prevention.

Coinciding with Movember, Business Junction is delighted to announce the launch of our Be Well business sector group which will revolve around expert-led round table sessions addressing practical aspects of wellbeing that matter in today's business environment.

We will tackle real workplace challenges, starting with men's mental health, and going on in future sessions to explore stress management, building resilience, and creating healthier working cultures. Each session combines specialist insights with structured round table discussions, offering valuable learning whether you're looking to better support your team, develop your own leadership approach, or grow your business in the wellbeing space.

The format works for business leaders wanting practical tools they can implement, entrepreneurs exploring wellness-related opportunities, and specialists seeking to share their expertise with a broader business audience. It's a straightforward approach to an increasingly important aspect of running successful organisations and maintaining personal effectiveness in demanding roles.

About this first event
Running or working in a smaller business environment can be exhilarating: it can also be isolating. Cashflow pressures, long hours, lack of security, and the constant need to look “on top of it” make it hard to speak up and ask for help.
Wanting to appear ‘successful’ can mean that we don’t always share the stress and anxiety that go along with that, or admit that we're struggling in any way.

Timed to coincide with Movember, the global movement dedicated to improving men’s health and wellbeing, this first Be Well session puts a spotlight on men’s mental health in business — encouraging open conversations, reducing stigma, and providing practical tools for support.

This practical Be Well session creates a confidential space to talk honestly, share experiences, and learn simple tools to boost wellbeing for you and your team.

Why it matters: in the UK, men represent 72% of alcoholics, 63% of heart disease deaths and around three quarters of people who die by suicide are men. For SME leaders and colleagues, the pressure to look ‘sorted’ can make it harder to ask for help.

What you'll gain:

  • Clarity on how expectations around masculinity shape stress, relationships and confidence at work.
  • Practical techniques to reduce anxiety, manage anger and build personal resilience.
  • Conversation starters and signposting you can use with colleagues the same day.
  • A concise follow-up toolkit and resources to keep the momentum going.

Who's it for?
Owners, directors and managers in SMEs who want to improve men’s mental health for themselves and their teams. Supporters and colleagues of any gender are welcome.

How it works
A short talk, guided exercises and optional small-group discussion. No one is put on the spot. Confidentiality is respected and you choose your level of participation.

About the facilitator
Andy Hix is a coach and mindfulness trainer who helps men build emotional intelligence and happier, more fulfilling lives. He has delivered men’s mental health sessions for Amazon, Deloitte and the Cabinet Office, and created the programme Rewiring Masculinity.

Join us if you want to support men in your workplace, strengthen your own resilience, and be part of breaking the stigma around mental health.
